|Revamps Rampant Among Top Fund Websites|

Many of the top mutual fund firm websites have undergone redesigns in the last year in an effort to improve content and ease of use. Alliance Bernstein, American Funds, Fidelity Investments, OppenheimerFunds, T. Rowe Price and Vanguard Group all redesigned their websites, in whole or in part, and won accolades for online best practices from Corporate Insight as a result. Jeff Latzer, head of research for mutual funds at Corporate Insight, told FII the number of revamps was striking.
Latzer noted that many firms seemed to be redesigning their websites with an eye toward making them tablet-ready. For example, he cited American Century’s use of large images, larger text and scrolling horizontal sections as being easier to read on a tablet computer. Jennifer Sussman, director of digital engagement at American Century, said everything the firm developed was designed to be compatible with tablet and mobile devices. Her firm was cited for excellent design, as well as educational and retirement resources.
