A Look Inside Chase’s Grow Your Business Online Webinars PDF Print E-mail

ChaseOver the last three months, Chase partnered with Google to offer small business owners a series of “Grow Your Business Online” seminars and webinars. These free discussions featured advice from Google product experts on how business owners can increase their presence online. The discussions were advertised on the Ink from Chase sitelet and marketed to customers through personal emails. 
 
The webinars focused on topics such as creating online communities, increasing company exposure online and more. As the webinars were free to the public, I decided to register for the “Create a Mobile Ready Site and Use Mobile Advertising” webinar, which was held on November 30, 2011.

Webinar Recap
The 60-minute webinar was hosted by Federick Vallaeys, a Google AdWords Evangelist, and included a Q&A session at the end with questions from participants. Mr. Vallaeys emphasized how traditional web page design does not translate well to a mobile webpage, meaning that mobile web pages need to be more concise with a simple layout that prioritizes the content. With regards to platform usability, he encouraged small business owners to include a search tool on their mobile web page to make it easier for users to locate a product or service.  Mr. Vallaeys also suggested that mobile web pages include easy-to-click on icons and links, since visitors are navigating with their fingers not a computer mouse.  As for mobile ads, Mr. Vallaeys discussed how to create location-specific campaigns and useful business listings. At the end of the seminar, webinar participants received an email with a complimentary offer of $100 of free advertising with Google Adwords Express.
 
Final Thoughts
The webinar was very insightful with actionable suggestions on how to create a user-friendly mobile webpage, increase customer engagement and strategically place mobile ads. The interactive Q&A session at the end also added a lot of value to the discussion. Finally, the $100 of free advertising was a nice reward for participants and allowed them the opportunity to launch online marketing campaigns using what they learned in the webinar.
