Last week, Franklin Templeton launched a new iPad app featuring fund data, investment commentary and firm information. The app starts at a Home screen, presenting visual summaries of its four main sections – Find a Fund, Multimedia, What’s New and My Briefcase.Find a Fund uses a Periodic Table of Elements-type display color-coded by category to organize funds. Selecting a fund loads a pop-up summary, with complete details linked. The Multimedia section offers videos of interviews and presentations with the firm’s experts. What’s New focuses on content available on the Franklin Templeton website, including further commentary and firm/website updates. My Briefcase allows users to save funds and videos of interest. The app also offers phone, email, office and social media contact information and a link to the website’s Find a Financial Advisor pages. As with the firm’s recently-introduced mobile site, there are no account management features.
