Credit Card Product Pages PDF Print E-mail
Online credit card product pages are an important section within the public site as they help market card products and provide detailed card information and promotional offers to prospective clients. In this edition of Credit Card Monitor Report, we investigate credit card product pages and examine the information they provide and the layout credit card firms use to relay details to potential new card holders.

In this Credit Card Monitor Report, we looked into credit card product pages, examining the pages firms are using to promote card products, looking for what essential and secondary information is provided and how each firm’s promotional pages are designed. As we investigated each issuer’s card product pages, we focused on the following issues:
  • Are firms using a standard product page template for all of their card products?
  • Is standard APR information provided directly on the product page or only linked to?
  • How do firms incorporate terms and conditions into the card product pages?
Of the 10 credit card firms tracked by Credit Card Monitor, all but one are currently promoting their card products online. Of these nine firms, two-thirds are currently using a single template for their card product pages, making it easier for site visitors to compare multiple products. Furthermore, 66% of the firms currently use embedded tabs or expandable sections in order to provide expansive account details in an organized and easily accessible manner.

All of the card issuers examined in this report include rate details and rewards information directly on their card product page; however, two of these firms do not offer standard APR details for all of their cards. Additionally, 77% of the firms include additional fee information, such as Balance Transfer fees, within their card template.
Additional key findings include:
  • Only two firms offer embedded tabs housing Terms & Conditions within the product page; all 9 firms, however, provide links to a separate Terms & Conditions page.
  • One firm uses an embedded table to organize card descriptions, rates and attributes.
  • Of the firms who offer credit card product pages, only 44% offer links from their product pages to printer-friendly versions.
