Longer Intellectual Reach = Greater Client Value

Corporate Insight publishes in-depth research on a variety of subjects within our areas of expertise. Our Monitor analysts generate an ongoing series of reports on narrowly focused topics of interest linked to our Monitor services. Our consulting team produces its own syndicated studies on higher-profile topics, like social media and online education.

Our research adds significant value for clients by extending the intellectual reach of our analysts and consultants . See the results of that reach both on this page—which features our latest Monitor-related reports—and the pages that follow.
Fund Product Pages
This Mutual Fund Monitor Report examines the product pages available on MFM firms’ public sites. In this report, we graded firms based on whether they offer a clear summary and performance charts and data on their product pages, as well as if the pages provide fund holding information. We also looked for whether clients are able to add funds to a watchlist and if they can generate fund comparisons directly from the product pages.

When reviewing these pages, we graded firms based on the following:
  • Summary/Value-Added Features
  • Performance & Risk
  • Composition
Firms scored well in this report. Four firms earned As and nine received Bs. Additionally, four firms received Cs. No firms failed in this report, nor did any firms receive a D.

Firms performed well in terms of providing access to a summary. Every firm provided access to fund objectives on a fund product page. Additionally, 94% provide access to an average annual return and 53% of firms also featured a brief risk assessment.

Firms also performed well in terms of performance and risk. Eighty-two percent of firms promoted their year-to-date return data. Additionally, 94% offer data since inception.

Performance was equally successful in terms of fund composition. All but two firms provided information about a fund’s largest holdings. Additionally, all but three firms feature information about their asset allocation, and all but three feature sector diversification data.

The report includes the following key findings:
  • 65% display information from fund rating agencies
  • 24% allow users to add funds to a watchlist
  • 35% offer dynamic charts
  • 29% provide links to fund comparisons
