This Retirement Plan Monitor Report analyzed the mobile apps available to participants of retirement plans on iPhones, iPads and Android devices. Additionally, we assessed optimized mobile sites, but only in the instances in which apps were unavailable. The iPhone app was the most common mobile resource; all but two firms assessed in this report feature iPhone apps. Fifty-four percent offer Android-ready apps, while only two of the firms assessed feature apps optimized for the iPad. Firms provide participants with an abundance of account data. Seventy-seven percent of firms assessed in the report list the investments held within the retirement account. Additionally, 69% list a rate of return figure. An additional 69% provide access to a transaction history consisting of contributions made and loans and/or withdrawals taken. Firm performance was inconsistent in terms of the educational resources made available through mobile apps. Only 46% incorporate a retirement-related projection, and only 31% archive educational articles. |
