Rating Methodology

Firms were scored based on three key criteria: activity, engagement and commitment level. Effectiveness scores were given for each individual property and social media channel, and an overall score was given for each firm's social media efforts as a whole.

With these ratings compiled, the report highlights those firms that earned the highest rating within their industry segment (e.g., credit card issuers). We also reviewed the best performers by property type (e.g., blogs) and social network (e.g., Twitter). In-depth reviews are provided for each of these leaders, analyzing the features that set their social media efforts above the competition. By benchmarking firms to each other and reviewing the industry’s best practices, this report should provide a clear view of the competitive landscape in the social space and deliver a wealth of ideas to financial services firms that want to improve their social media efforts.
